MCLAB (Molecular Cloning Laboratories), a South San Francisco-based biotech company, is a leader in DNA sequencing services and consumables. Our large capacity DNA sequencing service is well known for high quality, low cost and fast turn-around time.  We are currently recruiting for a Sales & Marketing Manager
for the tactical marketing for MCLAB’s products and services.

The successful candidate will have a technical background in molecular biology, as well as an understanding of the research market. A degree in the life sciences with an MBA or marketing and sales experience for a biotechnology company is highly preferred. In addition, success in this position will require strong initiative, excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong teamwork and interpersonal skills, and an orientation for high quality customer service.

Responsibilities include:

  • Formulate, direct and coordinate marketing activities and policies to promote products and services. 
  • Develop, execute and maintain marketing content, website, trade show materials and advertising collateral that support product offerings. Develop metrics to demonstrate that these materials are strongly effective.
  • Maintain and utilize mail-list and other customer information for effective outreach to new and current customers.
  • Plan, coordinate and evaluate speaking and conference opportunities for senior staff, including webcasts, conferences, and events. 
  • Assess and coordinate sponsorships and exhibition materials as needed.
  • Monitor lead generation activities and develop metrics to demonstrate effectiveness of the campaigns.
  • Measure and influence to ensure product and support activities for customers meet or exceed expectations.
  • Provide assessment of potential markets and develop short and long range business strategies for product expansion.
  • Assist the Management Team in managing projects to meet project deliverables
  • Help develop pricing strategies, balancing firm objectives and customer satisfaction.
  • Perform other marketing and sales support functions, including international sales communication, as needed. 


  • 2-5 years previous marketing and/or product management experience (life sciences preferred).
  • Self-starter, willingness to take initiative.
  • Demonstrated skills in communications, networking, and interpersonal relationships.
  • The ability to independently obtain data and perform market research.
  • Experience and knowledge of diagnostic assay markets a plus.
  • Experience in PCR, RT-PCR, DNA quantitation, oligonucleotide production or other molecular biology techniques a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate within the team and across departments both verbally and via written communication.
  • Must have strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency, including, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), WordPress.
  • Willingness and ability to take on additional responsibilities and undertake challenging tasks as necessary.
